What's happening right now?

This is a /now page, which means it's a place you can come to see what I've been up to recently: what I've been reading, watching, listening to, and so on.

Sometimes, you'll see that I've rated something. I owe my rating system to Michael Burkhardt's original system, although it appears he's changed the way he rates things since then. Anyway, this is the gist of what I mean when I rate things:

Stars awarded Verdict
0.5 Abysmal. No redeeming qualities.
1.0 Terrible. Pretty much garbage.
1.5 Bad. Just plain bad.
2.0 Poor. Some redeeming qualities, but not enough to make it worthwhile.
2.5 Mediocre. Just as much wrong as right.
3.0 Decent. Worthwhile, but nothing particularly special.
3.5 Good. Solid and very enjoyable.
4.0 Very Good. Really enjoyable—very little to criticise. Or maybe no problems, just not an instant classic.
4.5 Great. Top shelf, possibly a classic.
5.0 Excellent. The best of the best!

Currently reading: Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett

“Here there be dragons . . . and the denizens of Ankh-Morpork wish one huge firebreather would return from whence it came. Long believed extinct, a superb specimen of draco nobilis ("noble dragon" for those who don't understand italics) has appeared in Discworld's greatest city. Not only does this unwelcome visitor have a nasty habit of charbroiling everything in its path, in rather short order it is crowned King (it is a noble dragon, after all . . .).

“Meanwhile, back at Unseen University, an ancient and long-forgotten volume -- The Summoning of Dragons -- is missing from the Library's shelves. To the rescue come Captain Vimes, Constable Carrot, and the rest of the Night Watch who, along with other brave citizens, risk everything, including a good roasting, to dethrone the flying monarch and restore order to Ankh-Morpork (before it's burned to a crisp).”

Currently watching: Steins;Gate 0

“A divergent continuation of the original Steins;Gate ending, Steins;Gate 0 explores an alternate worldline where Okabe abandons time travel. While attempting to forget past traumas and get his life back on track, he meets an AI that re-opens old wounds.”
